I saw these shorts on the J.Crew Factory website and immediately knew I had to have them, the color and pattern just screams-- ME! I would by no means consider myself a pattern-mixing expert, the thought of it actually frightens me a little bit. But the way the J.Crew model was styled looked simple enough, a classic striped t-shirt paired with the loud pattern of the shorts is a good first step. I thought, maybe it's time to put my big girl pants on and see what all this pattern-mixing-business is about. I'm not sure why I was so afraid of it, I actually really like it.
Inspiration:
Blazer: LC Lauren Conrad (Kohl's) (similar)
T-shirt: Old Navy
Shorts: JCrew (similar)
Necklace: Charlotte Russe (similar)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff
Sandals: Aldo
I actually like your look better than the original! LC's collection at Kohl's is stellar and that blazer is no exception. I am the same way--mixing prints is a bit terrifying to me. I need to challenge myself to try it! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat look! Black and white stripes is my favorite way to mix patterns. The stripes are so simple and let the other pattern stand out without really overwhelming the other piece. Love the way you styled it :)

The pattern mixing totally works on you! I'm starting to think of stripes as a neutral ;)

You look awesome. Even better than the inspiration, I think! Those shorts are so cool and they look great with the striped top. And I love your necklace, too. I would love to feature this look in our "things we love" post tomorrow. We will make sure to link back to your blog!
